The dark evening

On a foggy morning, they were standing in front of the elevator of their building, meeting for the first time, the morning breeze adding drama to the moment. Moving back her curly black hair from her face, she asked him, "New Tenant?" Hesitantly he replied "No. I own an apartment here now..." the elevator door opened and they got in, he pressed for the 5th floor and turned to her to ask her floor, she nodded for the same floor. Both had a slight smile when they got off the elevator She welcomed him and offered him help in case he needed anything. Angad thanked her and waved back. Soon they were swallowed by the closed door of their apartments. Angad got busy arranging his house since he moved in recently, the house is still a mess. Rhea was still on his mind but he distracted himself with some loud music. Rhea too drowned in Angad's presence she could also listen to the songs he was playing. Now that's enough... she said to herself. however, she couldn’t distract herself more and went straight to him and knocked on his door She didn't miss the sparkle in Angad's eyes when he saw her. Rhea handed him some snacks and fresh juice to start his morning and so he invited her as well. and it all began from that moment. they indulged in endless talks and started to know each other a bit more. Rhea too recently moved their with her husband Nakul, Nakul is good-looking and a brilliant guy who owns a tech firm and his firm was going through a crisis which is not allowing Nakul to spend time with Rhea, affecting negatively on their relationship. Rhea used to spend a lot of time alone or she often called her sole friend Divya who stays a few blocks away, Divya is her confidant and staying alone she was hunting for a groom for herself after the end of a long time relationship with Rhea's younger brother Neel. One day Divya came to see Rhea and she introduced her to Angad who is now well settled in his new house, Thanks to Rhea as she helped him a lot to set up his house and bring back his life to normalcy. Angad's charm spelled magic on Divya and she quickly fell for him. Nakul usually starts his day early and leaves for the office, He spends most of his time at the office, sometimes touring on weekends would break Rhea's heart as she feels ignored but Nakul has ambitions, He wasn't intentionally doing so, he wants a good life for both of them. Maybe he is too involved with his work. Angad had a stable job and usually came home by early evening, which allowed him to steal some moments with Rhea, she also looked forward to it. They both know it's going nowhere still human emotions cannot be caged, emotions are always complicated is it a boon and a curse to humans? no one knows. Divya too started frequently visiting Rhea and she knew the reason very well Divya had all praises for Angad, she said this to Rhea "I like Angad, he has an aura that's so soothing." Rhea reluctantly teased her "Yeah, and he is single too, why don't you tell him upfront?" "umm.. I will. I am waiting for the right moment" Divya said. it cannot go unnoticed from Divya's eyes the kind of attention Angad gives to Rhea and she has also noticed the longing in Rhea for Angad "It's going to be complicated," she silently said to herself. Divya is strong independent, and worthy of making her own decisions, She works as an assistant to a renowned surgeon in the city and very good at her work. One evening Angad came back early, Rhea was strolling down in the garden when she saw him. She invited him for a cup of tea, more than that she wanted his company. His brother too visited her around the same time. She introduced him to Angad and they instantly became friends, as they have the same passion for the Gym, their conversations on Gym equipment and workout schedules bored Rhea though she was taken aback by Angad's way of charming everyone he met. Slowly the evening was turning into fun as Nakul also came early. A little surprise to Rhea that he could afford on their 2nd Wedding anniversary. To make it an occasion Rhea called Divya as well. It's a happy and perfect evening, with Music, Wine, food and favourite people around, unknown of what is going on in each other's mind. Angad and Rhea couldn't stop looking into each other's eyes which they were trying to avoid. Divya ignores Neel even after the breakup, such reunions are always awkward, although she is enjoying Angad's presence which Neel could sense. Nakul on the other hand was a little bit silent, observing them all. He is always a man of few words. he has grown up living aloof with his books, which also led him to Rhea. She was working in one of the bookstores where Nakul was a frequent visitor, they both had a thing for thriller and murder mystery genres, and she often helped him choose the interesting books. soon they fell in love and that's how they got together. As everybody rejoiced, Divya announced her liking for Angad and everyone just paused probably staring at Divya in awe. It took Angad some time to understand what had just happened. Neel was also shocked at such a revelation, even if they broke up, He still had something for her. Rhea clutched Nakul's arm tightly, she was waiting for Angad's reaction. Nakul looked at Rhea, he knew her very well. He kissed her on the cheeks and at that very moment, Angad noticed too. He was bewildered and didn't know how to react. He still could not get Rhea off his mind. He gathered some courage to look at Divya to say something when Nakul came to his rescue "Divya, he seems pleasantly surprised, you should give him some time" "Have mercy on him dear" He winked at her. to make the moment light Neel came forward and gave a toast to Rhea and Nakul for their Anniversary. They all wished and left Two days passed no one saw anyone. Nakul again got back to his regular hectic schedule, Neel joined the Gym which was referred to him by Angad, he too goes there, and Divya shut herself away from everyone. Rhea kept calling Divya, but she refused to even take her calls things suddenly changed after that evening. Angad blocked Rhea and that was best for both of them however they knew it was too late and they had already fallen for each other moreover they were in love. One evening Rhea was strolling around intentionally waiting to see Angad, she knew his office timings and gym timings. She ran towards him and literally bumped on him as he returned from Gym in the process Angad’s protein shake bottle dropped on the floor, He picked it up and started to walk off, she tried to start the conversation but to her surprise, He continued walking as if he didn't know her. She felt very weak at what had just happened, couldn't bear the pain, clueless and obsessed over Angad she couldn't even sleep properly that night. The loud ambulance siren woke up almost everyone around the neighbourhood who had come to pick up Angad's body. Rhea was watching everything from her window, with Nakul beside her. Neel was with an ambulance and probably calling Angad's family. Divya was nowhere Rhea couldn't even shed tears. she was devastated knowing the cause of the death was poisoning. Yes, he was murdered and she couldn't understand why would someone kill such a charming person. little did she know that his charm had become his greatest enemy. On the Night after that evening, Neel goes to Divya, he expresses he is still in love with her Divya has moved on and is captivated by Angad's charm. He couldn't bear this and stole something from her working kit. She stopped him but his perfectly worked out strong body overpowered her and he left. She tried to stop him and begged him to listen to her but Neel was always like that tempered and immature which was the main reason for their breakup. He joined the same gym where Angad used to work, he kept a close eye on his activities in the gym and his planning started. Angad used to make his protein shake when he left from Gym. There is a pantry in the gym and prefers some regulars from there, Neel got a very good chance to mix the harmful antibiotics into his shake and so he does.

Upset with Angad's behaviour, Rhea to calm herself down visited Divya, she perceived Divya was way too happy as she broke the news of Angad accepting her proposal but he wanted her to keep it secret for some time, Rhea could not believe it, she felt extremely betrayed her dejected heart and mind were not in a stable state, she stole the harmful antibiotics that Divya once told her about casually. She needed a closure. Angad is not leaving her mind. She could not stop herself from knocking on his door with his favourite food. He opened the door took the food in and thanked Rhea this time he did not even invite her. She left with bleary eyes and stayed strangely silent but she was screaming and crying from inside.
